Scientific surveys have identified a staggering 400 species of corals (more than 50% of the world’s total) and over 900 species of fishes here. The resort is
owned and run by long-time residents, The bar and open-air lounge has a small library, comfortable chairs, a sofa and a hammock. There’s also cable TV and email if you want outside contact. Hors d'oeuvres accompany drinks in late afternoon at this natural gathering place. Meals are in the dining room and the food is plentiful & tasty. Max & Cecily make a point of mingling with the guests at dinner. Dive sites are 30-60 minutes from the resort. The boats are comfortable, roomy, and covered. The sites are world-class. The reefs offer everything from grand vistas to muck sites. Schools of fishes of all sizes swarm the reefs, stands of lettuce corals, sea whips, and gorgonians add color. On our last visit, we saw scores of dolphins and even got to swim with them one day. We also found pygmy seahorses, ornate ghost pipefishes, sea moths, and nudibranchs. Topside, there's hikes in the rain forest that delight birders and butterfly lovers. There are hot springs to visit too. For more information about the resort, contact Walindi Plantation Resort.
